Qui dit Fruit At Work, dit Fairtrade.
When you say Fruit At Work, you say Fairtrade, and hence: fair trade. To fill our fruit boxes with fair, delicious fruit, we strive to work with local farmers. Why? Thanks to the close collaboration with our regular fruit growers, we can visit them anytime to see how both the farmers and their workers are doing. Of course, not all fruits can be sourced locally. For example, our Fairtrade bananas come from further away. But even then, we can still guarantee fairness thanks to the Fairtrade label. What does that mean exactly? Find out below.
A healthy dose of fairness

The Fairtrade label ensures that producers in the Global South (Africa, Asia, and South America) receive a fair income. This allows them not only to make a living from their work, but also to invest in a sustainable future. Fairness and trust are the cornerstones of Fairtrade, and of Fruit At Work. We’re deeply aware of the impact our products have on both people and the planet.
Speaking of ethical business: Fairtrade operates on the ATCB principle: All That Can Be, Must Be Fairtrade. We strongly believe in this, and we even got our entire fruit box certified as Fairtrade; as the only fruit supplier in Belgium.
Did you know…
About 93% of Belgians trust the Fairtrade label?
- Over 70% recognise the Fairtrade label when they see it?
And 69% consciously choose Fairtrade products?
The goals of Fruit At Work and Fairtrade go hand in hand: fair trade, a fair reward for producers’ hard work, and a contribution to a more just world. “By being Fairtrade certified, we ensure farmers receive the price they deserve. You can help too; simply by choosing Fruit At Work fruit!” – Yannick Aerts
Where strict standards make fairness taste even sweeter
Just as we monitor our local producers, we are monitored too, including regular inspections. That’s no surprise, since the Fairtrade label is highly valued in the fruit industry.
FLOCERT, the certification body for Fairtrade, evaluates us using a public set of compliance criteria. The SCORE monitoring system (Strengthen the CORE) distinguishes between basic and developmental criteria and uses a 1 to 5 rating scale to assess performance. This transparent system ensures consistency in certification decisions.
That’s not all! Fairtrade Belgium adds additional audits. An online product database tracks every Fairtrade-labelled product, where we must submit precise data about product composition, supply chain, and more. On top of that, quarterly reports are required.
Earning the Fairtrade label is no small feat — but (in our view) it’s more than worth it, knowing the positive impact it has on producers' lives. Will you join us in making that positive impact? Start with a fair and delicious fruit box today!
