Yannick Aerts (Fruit At Work) est Fairtrade Frontrunner dans la catégorie Fairtrade Ambassadors
The winners of the 2nd edition of the Fairtrade Frontrunner Awards were announced on 25 June 2024, at Quartier Papier in Zaventem. This initiative by Fairtrade Belgium – the organisation behind the label in Belgium – aims to recognise the efforts of companies that market Fairtrade-labelled products. "Because without our business partners, we wouldn't be where we are today," says Philippe Weiler, Director of Fairtrade Belgium.
"With these awards, we want to acknowledge their efforts and encourage them to keep raising the bar together." Prizes were awarded in four categories: the Fairtrade Premium, the "Communication & Marketing" category, the "Beyond Certification" category, and finally, the "Fairtrade Ambassadors" category. It was in this last category that Yannick Aerts received an award as a "Frontrunner."
A great recognition for Fruit At Work’s long-standing commitment to fair trade, and a push to continue raising the bar for sustainable value chains alongside Fairtrade.
On 25 June, the Fairtrade Frontrunner Awards were presented for the second time at Quartier Papier in Zaventem. The event, organised by Fairtrade Belgium, celebrates the companies it partners with for their efforts in the field of sustainability and fair trade. The prizes were awarded based on the Fairtrade Frontrunner scorecard, developed by Fairtrade Belgium.
The scorecard ranks the organisation’s business partners according to the volume of Fairtrade products they sell (expressed in Fairtrade Premium, which goes directly to farmer and worker organisations), their communication about their Fairtrade commitment, and their efforts to go beyond certification. In addition, three "Fairtrade Ambassadors" were chosen and awarded for their inspiring achievements in advancing fair trade in the business world.
